I had started this blog at 4 pm. It's roughly 8 pm as I've been on a real roller coaster ride this evening. It's too much going on with everyone being sick and me helping my mom. Again Papi brought up a "when will I see" kind of question. I felt like breaking down because really between running errands, hospital visits to see my grandmother, helping my mother do things and taking care of my own daughter I'm doing everything but taking care of myself. I'm eating poorly..from grabbing a Snicker bar to really half eating or maybe not eating at all. I'm rest broken. However, I did manage to squeeze in time to get my nails done yesterday just before going to see my grandmother, so maybe I'm not that bad off.
"I'll take care of you," Papi told me in our conversation.
All I could do was sigh and fight back some tears.
"Just make time."
While I'm figure out my life and how to make time for myself as well as others, I am making time to do a lil (pregnancy) survey I found from a blogger on another blogging site I belong to. Thanks to The One, The Only.
Enjoy...
What was your pregnancy like?
1. Was it planned? No
2. Were you excited? Not at first. I freaked out, becuase all those times I spoke casually about me being content with perhaps doing the Oprah and Stedman thing along with being happy being as a single mother....i alost felt like I stuck my foot in my mouth.
3. Did you find out the sex of baby? No. I tried too, but the kid kept her legs closed. My family knew then and there it was a girl, but I still unsure.
4. When did you choose babys name? Literally a week before she was born. I had names ready for a boy (Jeremiah or Nigel), but I had the hardest time trying to find a girl name, especially since part of the family tradition is to take the name of an elder matriach of the family and work it in some kind of a way.
5. Did you go to all your doctor appionments? Yes of course! Once I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 4 months so it was critical that I saw a doc right away for prenatal care and all that stuff.
6. Were you sick in the first trimester? Yes. Actually I thought my sickness was more digestive and stress from work. Pregnancy was the last thing on my mind. I was sick most of the time in the morning, and sometimes lasted well into the late afternoon. I didn't know it I had to sit or stand. I saw a gastric specialist, which ultimately led to having a sonagram, which ULTIMATELY led to the tech saying "ummmm did you know that you are pregnant?"
7. If so did sickness go away after 1 trimester? Yes and no. It lingered a bit, bu once I realized what was going on and ended up resigning from my job (which was becoming a bit stressful and uncomfortable) the digestive probs stopped. I had minor heart burn here and there, "charlie horse" or muscle spasms in the legs.
8. Did you gain lots of weight during your pregnancy? No, people didn't notice or believe I was pregnant until I was 9 months. Even then they only thoughts I was about 5 months. I gained maybe 15 - 20 lbs.
9. Were there any complications in your pregnancy? Not really. My doc specializes in hig risk pregnancy and she was monitaring my pressure and sugar levels since there is a history of high BP and diabetes in my family.
10. What was the one food you craved most? Pepperoni pizza. I should have known something was up when everytime I turned around I wanted a pepperoni pizza.
11. Was there a food that made you very sick? No.
12. Stretch marks? I had a few anyways from loosing some weight. I have some news on the tummy, but thankfully they don't look too gross.
13. Did you hold lots of water? Nope. I peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot
14. Was babys daddy supportive? After initally telling him, he was supportive in a sense of helping me sort some feelings out. Termination was discussed and tried, yet as I've told the story before, divine intervention stepped in and stopped it. After I came to grips with being a mother, I really didn't want to be bothered by him too much. He was going through his drama and I didn't want any parts of it. So I handled the pregnancy with POSTIVE people in my circle.
15. Was babys daddy excited? Hard to tell. Sometimes it seemed like it, other times I wasn't too sure
16. Midwife or OBGYN? OBGYN!
17. Did you exercise during your pregnancy? I walked every chance I got.
18. How many ultra sounds did you have? Ultra sounds were done each doc's visit to check the baby's heartbeat and all. Sonograms, only two were done.
19. When did you start to dilate? I was two centimeters a week before my daughter got here.
20. What was your origianl due date? March 25, 2007.
21. Did baby arrive early? No. She came a few days after. Maybe she heard the doctor talk about inducing???
22. How long was your labor? Just about a whole day. I went into labor the night before, thinking I could hold on since I had a doc's appt in the morning. By 5 am I was at the hospital and being told I was 4 centimeters. At 1:41 pm she was here.
23. Was babys daddy in the room when you delivered? No. I called him right after.
24. Anyone else? My mom.
25. Any complications while delivering? Well I was dilating right on schedule until I got to 8 centimeters. I developed a fever and the baby's heart was either dropping or accelerating too fast. The doctors monitored the situation for a moment or two and acted fast. They told me I was going to have to have an emergency cesarean (C-section). I cried because I had never had any major surgery in my life. I feared for everything at that moment. But my mother with through the same thing with me and assured me everything would turn out ok, as well as the doctors.
26. Did you have stitches? I was cut along the bikini line. I was stitched up, but I had the ones that dissovle when they heal! so it doesn't even look like I've been cut! *cheesy grin*
27. What is babys full name? All you need to know is Taylor. *smile* aka Snickerdoodle aka Pinky aka Froggie aka Snickerfroggie aka Lucy aka Wookie aka Lady T aka Ms T aka lil mama
28. How big was baby? 7 lbs 8 oz 21 inches
29. Any complicatons with baby? Not really. Because of the situation on how she was delivered she stayed in the nursery ICU for observations. She was fine.
30. How many days did you stay at the hospital? 5 days. My temperature kept going up and doctors wasn't understanding why when everything checked out ok with me. I convinced them to take me off the IV for a day and let me be. I know my body. It's weird. Sure enough they left me alone for a day and I was fine. I was discharged along with my daughter.
31. Any complications after delivery? Just that it sucked to be laid up for a few days because of the C-section. When I came home I couldn't walk up and down the stairs much.
32. Babys weight when you left the hospital? 7 lb 8 oz maybe a bit more.
Baby Now?
33. How old is baby? At the stroke of midnight she'll be exactly 8 months (Nov 30th)
34. Babys weight and length now? at 6 months appointment 15 lbs 10 oz and perhaps about 2 feet!
35. Babys eyes? Brown is her eye color, but I have seem them change *sigh* She got that from her father.
36. Babys hair? NJust like mine. Thick, dark brown with some light brown tones.
37. Babys growth percentile? Uuuummmmm is it bad that I don't know this one? The doc told me, but I'm just happy to hear that my baby is healthy.
38. How many oz formula/breast milk? How often? Solids? Let's see... Chica eats cereal in the morning (oatmeal, multi grain or rice with fruit) with a 5 oz bottle of milk. Midday.. it depends. If we're out and about the oz will vary from a 9 oz to a 2.5 oz. If we're home she'll just do another 5 oz and take a nap do a 4 oz juice. Dinner she's doing the 2nd foods meats and veggies with milk (size varies)
39. Babys clothing size? 6-9 months some times a 9 - 12 months.
40. Diaper? Huggies sizes 3!
41. Do you like being a mommy? Yes i love it! I'm sooooooooooooooo in love with my daughter it's ridiculous! 42. Does daddy like being a daddy?
43. Does baby look more like you or daddy? She has her father's complexion and maybe his eye color changing trait, but she looks like me.. an exact carbon copy, especially from my old baby pictures to hers.
44. Is baby healthy? Yes!
45. Is baby happy? Yes all the time!
